§02

What the fee doesn't include

Budget for the attempt first. Prep is a separate decision.

The $169 buys one attempt at the exam and nothing else. NHA sells study guides and practice tests, and other companies sell courses and apps, but none of them is a condition of sitting. NHA says so itself: buying its prep is not required to sit for any NHA certification exam and use does not guarantee a passing score.

Prep is the line in the budget you can trim. Free practice, such as the practice test on this site, covers the same 12 test-plan areas. If you'd rather buy something, the prep comparison lists prices and contents with dates.

§03

Rescheduling, cancelling and refunds

The 24-hour cut-off is the easy one to miss.

Reschedule

Free if you move to a new date within 6 months of your original exam date.

PSI or online appointment

Reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours before the appointment. Any later and the fee is forfeited.

School or employer site

Changes are possible before the exam starts, at the site's discretion.

Refund

Only when NHA, PSI or the remote-proctoring provider cancels the exam and you do not reschedule. The handbook adds that there are no other circumstances in which refunds are offered.

After you pass, the credential is renewed every two years for a separate fee; the renewal page has that figure and its date. The full sequence from eligibility to certificate is on how to become a CCMA.

§04
