Can you take the CCMA exam online?

Yes, by live remote proctoring

The NHA Candidate Handbook lists three delivery options: an NHA-authorized school or employer, a PSI test center, or Live Remote Proctoring (LRP). If you register on your own rather than through a school, your choices are PSI or LRP.

Before you choose the online option

Check the setup a few days out, not the morning of.

  • Internet that supports VoIP. The proctor watches live, so the connection has to hold for the full 3 hours.
  • A compatible computer. The LRP provider is assigned when you register, and its requirements apply.
  • A government-issued photo ID with a signature, such as a driver's license or passport. The same rule applies at a PSI center.
  • On-screen tools only: the digital whiteboard and the built-in calculator.

§03

How registration works

Four steps, all in your own NHA account.

  1. Create your own candidate profile

On the NHA site, in your name. A parent or teacher should not set it up for you.

  2. Apply for the exam

Accept the eligibility attestations. Keep proof of your diploma and training or experience, because NHA may audit it. Eligibility is set out under how to become a CCMA.

  3. Pay

Within 2 hours of applying, or the application is voided. The cost page has the current fee and its date.

  4. Schedule

Pick a PSI center, an LRP slot, or a date your school has set.

§04

Remote testing, PSI and ID

Is the online CCMA exam the same exam?

Yes. The delivery method changes; the test plan of 180 questions in 3 hours stays the same.

How do I take the CCMA exam at PSI?

Register and pay in your NHA account, then schedule a PSI center. Bring a government-issued photo ID with a signature.

Can I use paper during the online exam?

The handbook provides a digital whiteboard for remote proctoring, so plan your scratch work on screen.

How fast are online results?

Within 48 hours, the same as at a PSI center. Details are on the results page.
