Match the format to the problem
One source of explanations plus one source of questions is usually enough.
- "I don't know the material yet"
A structured guide: the NHA study guide (13 modules mapped to the test plan) or the Mometrix book or course. Pair it with a week-by-week plan so the 28 General Patient Care items get more time than the 6 EKG items.
- "I know it, but I freeze on questions"
Question volume with explanations: Pocket Prep, BoostPrep or the Mometrix course. Start with the free practice test on this site to see which categories you miss.
- "I want to feel the real format"
NHA's practice tests are 150-item forms with Focused Review afterwards. The exam itself is 180 items in 3 hours; our timed mock runs one question at a time.
- "I keep forgetting the lists"
Flashcards: tube order, lead placement, injection angles, code sets. The free deck here covers the ones that cost the most points.

Where our app fits
Honest version: it suits some study habits better than others.
Our app is a question bank for the CCMA, sorted into the same 12 categories as the 2022 NHA test plan, with a breakdown under every option. It suits you if you study in short sessions on a phone and learn best by getting questions wrong and reading why. It isn't NHA material or a video course, and it doesn't replace NHA's practice-test format if you want that experience.
You don't need to buy anything to find out where you stand. Use the free practice test and flashcards here first; pay only once you know which category needs the help.

- Use the free tier first: Pocket Prep offers 30 free questions.
- Check the refund terms: Mometrix lists a 7-day money-back window.
- Price it against the exam fee and retake costs, which are the money you can't avoid.

Is there an NHA CCMA study guide book?
Yes. NHA sells the CCMA Study Guide from $74 online, and a printed version is also sold (prices as of 2026-10-05).
Is there a free NHA CCMA study guide PDF?
NHA sells its study guide; it isn't offered as a free download. Free practice is available on this site: a practice test, a timed mock and flashcards.
What is the best CCMA exam prep?
There's no ranking here. Pick by the gap you have: content (a guide), question practice (a bank), or format (NHA's practice tests).
Do I need to buy NHA's materials to take the exam?
No. NHA states its prep isn't required and doesn't guarantee a pass.
